POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager, FP&A will play a pivotal role in shaping National MI’s long‑range financial outlook by enhancing and maintaining our enterprise‑wide financial and capital models. This high‑visibility position offers significant exposure to executive leadership, including the CFO and other senior stakeholders, and provides a unique opportunity for a driven, intellectually curious professional to contribute meaningful insights that guide strategic decision‑making. We are seeking a candidate with strong analytical capabilities, a proactive mindset, and the energy and ambition to learn, grow, and excel in a dynamic environment.

 

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and enhance driver-based, auditable financial planning and capital models and integrate these into operating practices of the Company, working closely with peers in other business areas (including sales, operations, corporate finance, and accounting).
  • Manage the monthly reporting processes by gathering required data and collaborating with business owners to determine and affirm assumptions and key benchmarks.
  • Review, analyze, and present financial information (including preparation of board of director presentations).
  • Maintain recurring financial reports and presentations utilizing advanced financial modeling techniques and rigorous analytics.
  • Provide actionable insights into revenue drivers, competitive dynamics, and broader market trends to support strategic decision‑making.
  • Evaluate trends in key performance indicators, benchmark performance against peers and industry standards, and identify emerging business risks and opportunities.
  • Perform rigorous sensitivity analysis focused on capital adequacy and stress‑testing frameworks.
  • Effectively communicate forecasts and assumptions across business units, ensuring shared understanding and alignment on strategic priorities.
  • Provide transparency and ease of access to plan-to-actuals and forecast-to-actuals information.
  • Build trusted relationships across the organization and serve as a valued business partner.
  • Provide assistance with expense management activities, including contributions to the refinement and enhancement of processes to improve financial efficiency.
  • Promote best practices in financial planning and support process improvements that increase efficiency and analytical rigor.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop team members to support their growth and performance.
  • Perform ad hoc responsibilities, as needed.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, finance, economics, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of five years of finance experience, with experience managing financial planning and analysis functions preferred.
  • Preference for candidates with people-management experience. Multiple years a plus.
  • Accounting/finance/valuation background; experience reading and interpreting financial statements. Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or master’s degree a plus.
  • Advanced user in MS Excel including Excel Add-ins and highly proficient in PowerPoint. SQL and Python experience a plus.
  • Financial planning software experience (such as Workday Adaptive Planning, or Oracle Netsuite).
  • Ability to proactively gather and synthesize data from internal and/or external sources, and to guide the analysis of complex issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and skilled in preparing effective summary analysis and presentations, with clear narrative and impactful visuals.
  • Ability to innovate and implement planning technology and tools as well as working knowledge of business intelligence solutions and experience with reporting solutions.
  • Experience as a Finance business partner with an understanding of how managers use financial and operational information to make better business decisions.
  • Highly self-directed and curious with an enthusiastic approach to solving complex problems and attention to detail.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and sound business judgment.
  • Organized and detail oriented with ability to manage financial processes and the capacity to implement control procedures while driving continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment while delivering on tight deadlines.

Base Salary: $109,200 - $125,000

The posted Base Salary Range may vary for key factors including, but not limited to, location, experience and skill set.
