JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Analyst will be part of the Corporate Analytics team, and will engage directly with internal and external customers to determine needs and set priorities based on organizational imperatives and situational awareness.  This role will have broad organizational access to support the analytic and reporting needs at all levels of Finance, Insurance Operations, and Risk Management.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Company-wide activities, both internally facing and in support of customer requests.
  • Measure and report on both production volume and productivity goals.
  • Support Accounting’s month-end close process through reporting and analysis of production volumes and activities, as well as understanding potential upstream and downstream impacts of results.
  • Lead development of presentations for varied audiences; could include internal Executive Management; State/Federal Regulatory Agencies; Investment community.
  • Primarily responsible for development and maintenance of large analytic datasets, both internal and externally sourced.
  • Provide guidance and subject matter expertise on datasets to users.
  • Develop operational workflow reporting as well as risk-based analysis. Add insight to help drive decisions and process improvements.
  • Independently explore ideas for new key performance indicators (KPI’s) or reporting based on own observations of needs and opportunity.
  • Lead implementation of new systems/software as needed.
  • Work with Information Technology (IT) and business units to define business and reporting requirements for system development.
  • Provide analytics, insight, and opinion on trends and issues affecting National MI, its customers, and the mortgage industry. May include customer benchmarking, competitor and industry analyses, and landscape changes impacting National MI relative to Federal Housing Administration (FHA), Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA).
  • Adhere to Change Management and Control standards and procedures, including documentation of new processes and tracking of all queued requests and projects.
  • Perform ad hoc responsibilities, as needed.

ESSENTIAL Competencies

  • Bachelor’s in Business, Accounting, Economics, Math, a related field, or the equivalent work experience. Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Advanced Mathematics or similar discipline a plus, but not required.
  • Minimum of four to six years’ experience in an analytic and reporting capacity, preferably in support of an Operational, Accounting, or Finance group in a financial services industry-related role (Credit, Risk, Insurance, Mortgage or Consumer Lending, Real Estate).
  • Intermediate/Advanced skills in developing transact-structured query language (T-SQL) scripting and stored procedures (Microsoft SQL Server or comparable). DBA-caliber SQL Server 2008/2012+ SQL server integration services (SSIS) & SQL server reporting services (SSRS) skills is a plus.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office suite tools for productivity, analytics and presentation, such as Excel pivot tables, charts, graphs, and PowerPoint presentations and interactive slide-shows.  Strength in development of Excel VBA/Automation functionality is a plus.
  • Microsoft Access reporting capabilities and application development.
  • Experience utilizing online analytic processing (OLAP) business intelligence or dashboarding tools such as DOMO, Tableau, Microsoft PowerBI, IBM/Cognos Analysis Studio, or MicroStrategy is a plus.
  • Experienced with design and construction of interactive dashboards.
  • Experience using Salesforce.com or comparable CRM solution is a plus.
  • Analytical skills, problem solving and solution development (defect analysis and reporting).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and responsibilities in a dynamic environment, while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information and use information appropriately.
  • Detail- and results-oriented.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; role will interact with all levels of internal and external organizations.
